This semester has been an interesting one for Japanese. Because of my other classes and being very busy it has been hard to keep up with a lot of the Japanese stuff. However the class this semester was set up very well. I really liked how the quizzes every week were getting structured. The projects this semester were also very interesting and I enjoyed doing them, especially the one with the Discussion Panel. I really enjoyed most of them. Next semester I should be able to devote more time to Japanese and I am very excited to be able to be taking this class. I would really like to increase my Japanese proficiency a lot more next semester and I look forward to it. Thank you for everything this semester and I look forward to next year.

The semester is coming to an end and I will soon have a lot of the stress ending, that is till after finals week. In this class I still have not been able to put as much time as I would like into it because a lot of my other classes being very time consuming and stressful. I wish to be able to focus more on Japanese next semester.

Reflection #10
Recently I have been very busy and not been able to keep up with a lot of my work and studies. I have been super stressed out and it has taken a toll on this class. However I am trying to keep up with all the work, even if it is just a little late I am trying to keep up with the class. I have been doing all the work but the kanji is always very difficult for me and I still am not good at studying it. I will try to start studying more and try to understand more of what is going on in this semester.

The Japanese panel discussion was very interesting. We have never done something like this before and I really liked this. It seemed to be a good way to put our Japanese to use because often we do not get as much speaking practice as is needed so this really makes us speak. It is also very good listening practice to understand other peoples ways of speaking. This is because not only listening to Yuki's voice all the time but being able to listen to other peoples voices is really nice for learning. I really hope we can do more of these in the future because I want to meet more people are get my Japanese better.

This past week we were working on our photo stories. I have been working on mine and have not quite made up a good story that I wanted to use for it. However I will try to think of one over the weekend. I also feel like I am able to remember a lot more of the kanji now, however I really would like to be able to learn more and what not to feel a lot more comfortable in my Japanese kanji skill because it is very lacking because I often forget a lot of the past kanji since after we use them once, we rarely will use a lot of them again in class.

今週の火曜日にクラスに来なかったです。病気だったので。それから、北日本人に会わなかった。でも、キャサリンのルームメートのマナ産を知っています。まなさんは横浜市から来ました。二十二歳で立教大学の大学生です。社会学の専攻です。歌う事が好きです。とても上手です。
This week we learned new grammar, but since I was not there I had to do a lot of the grammar on my own.
I was a bit difficult grammar but I was able to figure most of it out. The kanji quiz was also very difficult since I was not able to study as much as I would have liked since I was ill and had 3 exams last week. However the next kanji quiz I hope to do a lot better on!

This week we learned about blood types. This was the most fun thing in class because learning different Japanese culture is interesting. We were able to guess everyone's blood types and talk about each type. It was very interesting and i want to find out with my blood type is. We had kanji this week and it was not too bad. I felt like a lot of the kanji were ones we have already learned and studied. We learned the grammar and without much practice it is hard to learn.... I will make sure i try my best in learning all the grammar points and feeling comfortable with them.

This week Yuki sensei was only here for 1 day. The other day she was absent and we had, Sayuri-sensei to teach our class. I think it is always nice to have guest teachers because it is nice to hear how other people speak. if you get use to how only one person speaks, it is very hard when you go to put your Japanese into use. We learned more grammar this week and I need to practice it all more so I can get more use out of it. I have already used a couple of the new grammar points with my Japanese friends so I can get use to them. We also had our first Kanji quiz, and I think I did rather well. I think it was because most of these kanji we had seen in the past. However I will try to continue to work harder on the next ones. The last thing we did this week was read the story. I think the way it was done was kind of bad. It takes to long when we have to translate the lines 1 after another. I think instead we should be assigned to read it before hand. We should then come to class with any questions that we have.

This week went very well. We have a smaller class which is nice because it makes us use more Japanese and we get to be involved more with the class. It was a lot of fun being able to talk to everyone again because it kind of feels like one big family. We started grammar again and we learned a lot of good things and I am very excited for this semester. However, I am not happy about starting Kanji next week. I am so baddddd. I look forward for the year though, I really want to get a lot better at Japanese before I will go back to Japan. I will try to put my all into the class and learn many things.

Blog #1 Reflection + Grammar
I am more excited to study Japanese this year than any other year. I have already made a lot of Japanese friends doing JCEC things and hanging out with them. I want to increase my language still in order to be able to talk to them better and so they can understand me easy in times when they don't understand English. I also want to do the JET program after I graduate in the spring, so I hope that my Japanese is on a good conversational level at the end of this year.

This week in Japanese we have been working on our projects a lot. Ella can only come to class one day a week so it makes it hard but I will find time to work with her outside of class. We found some statistics though and we will use this in our project. I made a graph out of them so we can also use this. So we will have to get together outside of class and split up the work some so we can finish this. We will have to get together again so we can practice to make sure we will have a good project.

This week we decided on partners for our project. I chose Ella because she is a good worker and understands Japanese so it will be easy to work with her. We decided to chose Studying abroad since it will be good to find information as well since Ella is a foreign student so it will hit close to home with her. Our project will be a good way to review a lot of the past grammars that we had to do. It gives a good way to use this grammar in the project and help us remember it. I usually do not like talking in front of people and even in English it is hard for me. So I will try my hardest to do it in Japanese ok.

In Japanese class this week we learned a lot of new grammar. Every time I learn new grammar it is kind of hard for me because it is a lot at once. I always try to look them over in my spare time though to learn the new grammar points better. Yuki-sensei also showed us wedding pictures and it was very interesting to see some of the things for a Japanese wedding. I want to try and go to a Japanese wedding in the future to see it for myself!

This week in class we had our super kanji quiz and I think I did pretty well. Once again however, I did well on the meanings and how to pronounce the Kanji but I always forget how to write the Kanji. We then had a dialog that we had to practice. It is always nice to practice those to get our fluency down when reading things. However some students in class really need to work on their Kanji. I am not very good at Kanji but I can at least read something like 文法とか全 but other students struggled on those. That is why people need to read the dialog in advance if they don't know the Kanji. When then learned again how to write a Japanese essay. I remember most of it from last time we did it, but it was a nice refresher.

This week we did more dialogs and learned about the Hina-matsuri. I enjoy when we learn about cultural Japanese things because it gives good insight to the true Japanese culture. The dialog was interesting because you can see how people communicate with one another rather than just reading a story to get information and such. The Kanji quiz this week was not too bad, however it comes down to me always forgetting how to write certain Kanji but I can always read the Kanji and understand the meanings.
I really do not know what I want to do my paper on but I will decide by the time I get to class today!

This week in Japanese class we learned a whole bunch of new grammar. It is always very difficult when we learn new grammar because you have to use it often to remember it. So this upcomming week I need to work on my grammar and see if I can master all of the new ones. We also have a kanji quiz coming up this week and it will be the hardest thing for me. I am so bad at remembering how to write kanji that I always forget come test time. So I will be focusing on learning the kanji to the best of my ability this week.

This week I missed one day because I was not feeling well. It was the first class I missed so far this semester. On thursday we had our super Kanji quiz. I can always remember most of the readings of kanjis as well as the meaning in English, but I always forget how to write them. I think the other two are more important however because even noe people don't write Kanji as much since the computer came along. Also we did a dialog with a friend. It was fun to make a dialog from scratch and come up with ideas on our own.
Paisley and the girl that sat next to her did the their dialog. The were talking about going to an onsen in kyuushuu and she decided that she is going to go next week. Also she mentioned that she needed to go into the outdoor onsen as well.
I watched the anime on the blog and Kimi ni Todoke. It started off write after winter break when the students came back. The three friends were eating lunch and exchanging food and the main character there was "Sawako Kuronuma" (I think). They then mentioned that the next day it was going to be Valentines day and was wondering if she was going to make chocolates. A new scene then goes to where she is making chocolates and get nervous because she notices how many little hearts she puts on them. She really wants to give a bag of these to a very popular guy in the class named "Kazehaya" (I think). So during Valentines day she gives all the Giri Chocolate to her friends and the teacher and they all say how good they taste. The whole day she was way to nervous to give any chocolate to Kazehaya. It is then you realize that Kazehaya has feelings for Kuronuma because he didn't receive any and was upset. She stays after school in hopes to get the courage to give him the chocolate. When he gets out of the teachers office and goes down the stairs she is about to call out to him when another girl walks over to give him chocolate. This makes her more nervous and she can no longer get the courage to give him any chocolate. The girl then walks up to her and says something about only if it is Giri Chocolate she can give it to Kazehaya. Kuronuma says if it is Girichocolate than she doesn't want to give him any chocolate because she wanted to give him chocolates to say she likes him and not friend chocolates.
This show was ok. It was kind of boring but it was fun to try and understand an anime without subtitles. I would like to do more of these in the future. Maybe a different anime though :).

Reflection of Glogster-
Glogster was an interesting way to practice Japanese. It was fun to just make a robot then describe this robot in Japanese. I am not very creative so it was difficult for me to try and think of something, although it was an easy idea, I had fun doing it. In the future I would not mind doing more of these. We could use them to teach the class about different Japanese cultures/holidays or what not. It could be a useful tool in making fliers for things like that.

Reflection:
This week we finished the sheet on kanji. It makes learning new kanji a bit more easy. It can help you remember then my the radicals rather than just memory. We also started chapter 4. This is the most difficult thing of the week, because what comes with a new chapter is a bunch of new vocab as well as kanji. Having to memorize all of those can be a challenge. So in the coming weeks my goal is going to be to practice all of this and try to remember it.

Blog #3 A. Reflection
This week we made a robot. That was really fun and interesting to be more creative and use our Japanese in that way. Also we talked a lot about the Katana words. It is fun to try and to compare English words and Japanese words to see if we can guess them.
The hardest thign was the Kanji quiz as well as the Kanji radicals. It is still the hardest for me even after studying it the most. I can read them ok and usually understand the meanings, but I have trouble remembering how to write them.

Blog #2 Reflection
This week was the first week back of Japanese class. We jumped in right away to the grammar which was kind of difficult. There were some new things I didn't understand and I feel like I will understand them better once I get into a better mindset for studying more Japanese. I do feel when we are reading something that we should read it before we come to class. It will make those exercises more effective and efficient.
